CLASSIFIEDS /alpineclubofcanada /alpineclubcan /alpineclubcan NOTICES 30 The Alpine Club of Canada Gazette Summer 2016 Members, volunteers and staff of The Alpine Club of Canada, As you are likely aware, we have just concluded the first formal online election in our Club's history. ank you to all who took the time to vote and express your wishes for the leadership of our organization. In our 110‑year history there have been 33 Presidents. I am extremely proud and honoured to have been elected the 34th. e other elected positions were Keith Sanford as Treasurer and Toby Harper‑Merrett as VP for Sections. Positions that were not contested were Secretary (Isabelle Daigneault), VP for Mountain Culture (Zac Robinson) and VP for Access and Environment (Wayne Campbell). I want to say a word of thank you to all candidates who put their name forward. Our Club could only have achieved a fraction of what we are today without the steeped history of volun‑ teerism, and the courage and efforts of members such as yourselves. I want to say a personal thank you to fellow presidential candidate Sandy Walker. She is a close friend of mine and has served with me as a fellow board member. Sadly, this election meant that one of us would be leaving the board. She is extremely intelligent and has served the Club in many selfless capacities. I hope to keep her close and involved in our future. I also wish to commend the work and dedication of our Nomination Committee. ey have had the thankless job of trying to interpret the written bylaws and convert them into a functional election. We have received their recom‑ mended revisions to our bylaws which will be taken under advisement as we move forward into a new era of govern‑ ance that can largely be credited to Past President Gord Currie and the work of the Governance Committee. We have an extremely talented and diverse Board of Directors. Part of the work going forward will be connecting with members and section leaders in coming months to determine our list of priorities. We are at an inflection point in our Club's history. We have a strong and engaged staff who want nothing more than to service the needs of all members. ere quite simply is no other national organization like e Alpine Club of Canada. We have the ability to change lives. I know this because the ACC has changed mine. ank you for your support and trust. I look to an amazing future and hope to see as many of you as possible some‑ where beautiful! —Neil Bosch President, e Alpine Club of Canada Open Air uPCoMinG deadlines John Lauchlan Memorial Award: Awarded annually to a lightweight Canadian team pursuing an innovative, bold, exploratory, environmentally sensitive, non‑commercial objective.
